You know the excitement you feel when you start dating? That’s me right now :D. If you have been following my instagram stories, you probably already know half the story haha.

I have been single for the longest time and certainly being 30 and single does not even help. I get constant questions like ‘’when are you getting a boyfriend”, “when are you starting a family” -from family members especially from my parents, uncles and aunties. I’m sure some of you can relate to this.

I feel like I have been so busy with life that a relationship wasn’t even on the cards for me but then again sometimes I miss someone being there and sometimes the body clock thoughts bug me, as I would really love to have some mini me’s one day.

Anyway, I decided to join a dating website to remedy this situation. It seems like that’s the way to go about finding a boyfriend in this day and age. If you know any other way, kindly let me know in the comment section below.

I was first on tinder, I had so many matches, around 800 over the period of one year but I never got to meet a single one of them. If you’ve ever been on tinder you may know what I mean, especially if you’re like me that swipes right for almost everyone because you just don’t know what you may get (I never judge a book by its cover ). For me it got so overwhelming and became more of a chore than fun so I gave up replying messages altogether.

How does anyone chat to this many men??? hahaha

6 months later, my friend encouraged me to join Hinge. She told me how a lot of people have had success on Hinge. I downloaded Hinge and found it a LOT more interesting than Tinder. The way the questions are set up on profiles, make it very easy to chat without any awkwardness. This is NOT sponsored.

Most of the time if I like a guy’s profile or he said something I found funny, I would just reply with a laughing emoji. I found these 2 below the most funny. I’m still laughing especially at the eyebrows one.

Also, the guys that liked or found my profile interesting would reply with an emoji or something relating to the answers in my profile . These already pre installed Hinge questions made it REALLLYYYY easy to start a conversation on the app.

Because of this it was easier to set up a date quite quickly. I mean I was talking to this guy on a Saturday and the next day I already met him. We had originally planned to meet at the following weekend, 7 days after but I was going to an event the following day (sunday) not far from his area and he was free at the time so we were like f*ck it lets just meet up and see if we get on.

We met up and went to the Oblix bar at The Shard. It was more of a casual first date. We both had 2 drinks each, the conversation was flowing, a lot of laughs (I found him quite funny, thank God). It was at this time that he asked me for my phone number. ( quick back story- I decided that I wasn’t giving anyone my number until we met and got along and wanted to see each other again, I can’t have the whole of Hinge having my phone number lol ).

As much as we both wanted the night to carry on, the next day was a Monday so we had to leave as we both had work the next day. We agreed to still meet at the weekend as originally planned. He walked me to the train station where we said our goodbyes. In all, we had a really good 3 hours together. I ‘ll let you ladies know how my second date with him goes.

Are you new to online dating like me? Or do you have any tips for me? I would love to hear from you in the comment section below.

Till nexy time my ladies,

Dels xx
